Describe your First Year Experience in one or two words: Supportive

I’d love to hear about your career journey. Can you talk about what led you here and your decision to join Thoughtworks?

I started my career at a coding bootcamp. It was a supportive, collaborative environment where I learned to code by pairing with others. Since then I've had opportunities to grow and work with incredible people. When I progressed through the interview process for Thoughtworks, I found a place that was interested not only in the technical skills that I had, but also in who I was and how I thought about the world. I felt like I was joining a group of people, and not just a corporation.

Ok take me back to your first day at Thoughtworks. Your first week. Your first month. How has your onboarding and First Year Experience differed from previous onboarding at other companies?

In previous experiences, much of the knowledge for onboarding was spread across multiple people, documents, and departments. Here though, everything that I need to do to get through onboarding was captured in one central location. I was never uncertain if I'd done everything that I needed to do to be successfully onboarded. We're also assigned a First Year Experience Mentor, and it was great to know that you have a person that you can go to if you have any questions.

What has been your favorite part of your Thoughtworks career to date? Any milestones? “Ah-ha” moments?

I like meeting the clients. Getting to understand their needs, and how we as Thoughtworkers can help them accomplish those goals, has been a satisfying part of my career so far.

What advice would you give to someone who is starting their first day at Thoughtworks?

Don't be afraid to ask for help, and stay active in the Thoughtworks community after you've been assigned to a client.
