Thoughtworks condemns militaristic aggression and believes there is no justification for the senseless war being waged in Ukraine. As Managing Director for our business in Europe, I am deeply troubled and determined to guide Thoughtworkers and our resources to help innocent victims.
We’re working to assist civilian refugees displaced by the invasion and stand in solidarity with them. We hope our skills as technologists can amplify the impact of frontline organizations who understand best how to direct our contributions.
Thoughtworkers in Germany and Romania are in constant contact with refugee support groups and long-standing partners such as Doctors Without Borders (Médecins Sans Frontière/MSF) while Thoughtworks Finland is supporting those fleeing the war, too.
The resulting humanitarian crisis is likely to last for years and our contribution will continue to support the victims. This week we’re beginning work on a tech solution for one of our partners: an online hub that can connect volunteers with refugee support efforts.
We have pledged a financial contribution to support MSF in their rapid response to providing urgent medical needs to refugees and civilians, while our local team efforts are focused on gathering and shipping resources to aid organizations at the borders.
Within Thoughtworks we are prioritizing the care of those people directly affected - our Ukrainian employees and those with close Ukraine connections. Thoughtworkers from Russia and Belarus are experiencing distress, too, so need our care and attention.
We’re continuing to share trusted information with everyone, so that all 10,000+ Thoughtworkers can contribute to our efforts as they choose and can help us find new ways to support the innocent victims of this dreadful war.
