What does your job involve?

My job involves teaching and improving engineering practices of those around me, from peers to clients, using feature delivery as the vehicle for teaching.

What is the most rewarding aspect of what you do?

Being able to inspire people to adopt engineering improvement, resulting in a more resilient codebase, more rigorous process and getting feedback faster to ensure the team has an ability to respond to change in a timely fashion.

We’d love to hear about your career journey. Can you talk about what led you to Thoughtworks and your decision to join Thoughtworks?

I heard the name “Thoughtworks” for a very long time as one of the most inspiring brands within the software development world. Lots of classic software engineering books and blogs I read over and over have Thoughtworkers’ names all over and I dream one day I could be joining the company to learn more from those people. After over a decade in the software industry, I felt I am ready to contribute back to the local community on what I’ve experienced and learned. Hence, I decided to apply to Thoughtworks and eventually landed in the company.

What has been your favorite part of your Thoughtworks career to date?

The culture of learning and sharing. I have learned a lot from amazing people from diverse backgrounds and skill sets throughout various informal and semi - formal sessions. I become a part of the community by sharing what I know, what I learned and what I experienced back to the community. When others find my content useful and inspiring, I feel the sense of purpose in my work of improving code craftsmanship for myself and for others around me.

What advice would you give to anyone thinking of joining Thoughtworks?

Thoughtworks have a lot of big name authors and you might feel like you haven’t earned yourself the level of these gurus enough to join. Don’t be scared! If you are eager to learn and have a knack of helping others, teaching others and inspiring others, then you are looking at the right place. You don’t have to be perfect. No one is. We have supporting networks to help you grow if you feel like you’re missing something in your career journey.

Anything else that you wanted to add about your Thoughtworks journey?

Thank you for giving me the opportunities to discover my joy of working in mentoring others and helping them grow. It is incredibly rewarding and I’m looking forward to more of this kind of work here.
