Maria Pusa

I am a nuclear safety mathematician turned data science consultant. For me the biggest reward comes from understanding and formulating business problems mathematically and finding new and creative ways to solve them. It is incredible how so different problems can be tackled with mathematics and there's tons of untapped business potential in this area! 

Before joining Thoughtworks, I have been a data science lead in projects involving IoT health monitoring, insurance fraud analytics and most recently optimizing airport operations. I have a PhD in numerical mathematics and I am particularly interested in matrix computations, complex analysis and optimization theory. Before transitioning to the data science industry, I did a decade of nuclear safety research yielding high-impact computational methods in the simulation of nuclear reactors.
